Our regional health profiles

The Brisbane South PHN region holds a richly diverse population, with over 1.2 million people from many different backgrounds and cultures.

Our region has the fastest-growing urban Indigenous population in the country, the largest Pasifika and Māori populations outside of the countries of origin, and we have the highest number of refugee resettlement in the state of Queensland.

Below are some key facts and data about the people in our region and their health needs, gathered through our annual Health Needs Assessment.

Sub-regional profiles

Brisbane South PHN has developed 20 sub-regional profiles to complement our Needs Assessment and provide a greater level of detail about our communities.

The information in these profiles is mainly from the 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census of Population and Housing. Topics include demographics, social determinants, selected health service usage, self-reported chronic health conditions and top causes of death.

The profiles help Brisbane South PHN and our partners to identify variation within our region and assist in planning and delivering services to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. The sub-regional profiles are listed below, along with the postcodes they cover.

Please read the background information on the sub-regional profiles for references and help with interpretation.
