Immunisation Program unaffected despite adult hepatitis B vaccine shortage
A current shortage of adult formulation of hepatitis B vaccines has impacted on private market supply across Australia.
The Australian Department of Health has confirmed that supply for the National Immunisation Program (NIP) has not been affected at this time, meaning adult formulation of hepatitis B vaccines as part of the NIP expansion measure should continue as scheduled for all eligible individuals.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation has developed further clinical advice for vaccination providers, including the use of alternate hepatitis B vaccines during supply shortages. This advice is now available on the Immunise Australia website and can be accessed at the following link.
